A BIG THANK YOU FROM DEVERE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Our Team of Peter, Ant and Ed visited De Vere Primary School in Essex for a full day to introduce 53 Year 5 & 6 pupils to WW1 Aviation with a flight in our VR SE5a simulator (Ant, Ed), a quiz (Peter) about its inventor the first RFC ace (Lanoe Hawker) and the opportunity to learn to write a poem about WW1 on paper seeded with Memorial Flowers. We are very grateful for all the wonderful feedback from De Vere and for all the effort that went in to the cards in the photos and we can assure Caleb that we enjoyed teaching them too.
The Trust will drop these poems from one of its vintage aircraft at the 110th Commemorations of the Battle of the Somme in July 2026. The poem-writing is the Trust's contribution to the Poetry Plane Programme in which children from around the globe are also writing poems which will be dropped by WW1AHT in July as well.

The WW1AHT team visited Brinkley Grove School last

The WW1AHT team visited Brinkley Grove School last week. We were enormously impressed with how the children engaged with the activities. Their enthusiasm was terrific. Ant and Ed reported that everyone did very well on the flight simulator and the quality of the children's work with the art and poetry sessions was excellent. We were particularly struck by the intelligent, well-informed and thoughtful way the children performed in the quiz, even the shy ones and even the ones with additional needs. As with all our school visits, it was a joy to see children so eager and enthusiastic to learn.
