WW1 AHT – Flying the BE2
The WW1 AHT pilots invite you to join them to share their experiences of flying the BE2. This will be the first of 12 chat sessions about flying and operating WW1 aeroplanes given by JeanMichel Munn who is the WW1AHT Chief Pilot as well as the Chief Engineer at Shuttleworth; Stu Goldspink who is a 3rd generation aviator and always happy in an aeroplane. Stu is known to many for his displays in WW2 aircraft but has an extensive repertoire of Great War aeroplanes in his logbook as well. Both JM and Stu had PPls before driving licenses. They will be joined by Jonathan Marten-Hale whose great uncle made bombs for the RFC. Jonathan is an airship pilot, owns the yellow Isaacs Fury and flies the BE2. Rob Gauld Galliers built the Nieuport 17 now owned and flown by our 5th pilot John Gilbert. Rob flew the N17 in films such as Flyboys and has flown the aircraft extensively in UK and Europe. John Gilbert has many thousands of hours in gliders and is fast catching up in the N17 with the others.
