Flt Sub Lt RA Warneford VC RNAS 2-19

Nineteen Airmen were awarded the Victoria Cross in World War One out of a total 628 awards during the War. The VC was awarded for valour in the face of the enemy. The second award was to Flight Sub Lieutenant Reginald Warneford VC RNAS

The Boys are back in Town

After a very long wait, the Trust has received the Permit to Fly for its Albatros DVa. It was moved to Stow Maries on 15th October taking advantage of a rare break in the weather. It was escorted by John Gilbert’s Nieuport 17 who flies with the Trust

Jam and marmalade were great solace to the pilots of the RFC. No 37 Squadron based at Stow Maries placed their orders by message streamer from the air. WW1 AHT is very proud to have re-enacted this event at Open Farm Sunday at Tiptree on 9 Jun e 2019.

Armistice Day – Project Lanoe Honoured by the Heritage Lottery Fund

For the success of Project Lanoe, Trustees of the WW1 Aviation Heritage Trust have been invited to attend The National Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on 11 November 2018, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. Members of the Royal family, and religious and political leaders will be joined by members of the public who have contributed to the Centenary on a national, regional and local level.
