SE5 versus Camel – a fighter pilot’s view

An SE5a should be joining the WW1 Aviation Heritagee Trust in 2018. Well known Aviation Historian Sean Feast will be writing a series of articles on the merits of the SE5a as the original pilots saw it. Join our Journey to keep the aviation legacy of WW1 alive and become a Patron of WW1 AHT. The SE5a was the aircraft of choice for many RFC pilots, including four recipients of the Victoria Cross: Major Mick Mannock VC, DSO**, MC* (73 victories); Major James McCudden VC, DSO*, MC*, MM (57 victories); Captain Anthony Beauchamp-Proctor VC, DSO, MC* DFC (54 victories); and Captain Albert Ball VC, DSO**, MC (44 victories).

With your help a magnificent Albatros DVa will be on its way back to England this summer painted in black with a huge Edelweiss on the fuselage replacing the aircraft that force-landed on its way back from the Somme The decision on the paint scheme had to be made early as the aircraft is in the process of being built and we will shortly have some pictures of the build as it proceeds apace. However, The Trust has undertaken to assist with the costs of bring it to UK and reassembling it. We need YOUR Help to do so.
