Thank you for thinking of giving to the WW1 Aviation Heritage Trust. Every gift helps keep these aeroplanes flying and the stories of the men who flew them alive. This page explains how giving works, how to change or stop a regular gift, and what happens if something goes wrong.
The Trust is WW1 Aviation Heritage Trust Ltd, a registered charity, No 1156699, and a company registered in England and Wales, No 08753767.
Ways to give
- Once, by card. Through our Donate page. The payment is processed securely by PayPal, and you do not need a PayPal account.
- Monthly, by card. Also through the Donate page. You confirm it once with PayPal, which then collects the same amount each month until you stop it. You can pay by card or with a PayPal account.
- Monthly, by standing order. You choose this on the Donate page and we email you the Trust’s bank details. You set the standing order up in your own bank, so it costs the Trust nothing to collect and it is always under your control.
We send you a receipt by email for a gift made through the website. For a monthly gift by card, PayPal also sends you a receipt for each payment.
How your gift is used
Gifts go to the Trust’s general funds and are used for its charitable work: keeping First World War aeroplanes flying, telling the stories of the men who flew them, and working with schools. If you would like your gift to support something in particular, please tell us and we will do our best to use it that way, or talk to you if we cannot.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, ticking the Gift Aid box lets the Trust claim an extra 25p from HM Revenue and Customs for every £1 you give, at no cost to you. Your declaration covers this gift and any you make in the future or have made in the past four years, until you tell us otherwise.
Please tell us if you want to cancel your declaration, change your name or home address, or no longer pay enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all your gifts in a tax year. We keep Gift Aid declarations for as long as HMRC requires, as explained in our Privacy and Cookie Policy.
Changing or stopping a regular gift
You can change or stop a regular gift at any time, and you do not have to give a reason.
- Monthly by card: stop it in your PayPal account (Settings, then Payments, then Manage automatic payments), or simply email us and we will stop it for you. We will confirm by email when it has stopped. To change the amount, stop the old gift and set up a new one on the Donate page.
- Standing order: change or cancel it with your own bank. It helps us if you let us know, so that we can keep our records straight.
If something goes wrong
If you have given the wrong amount, given twice by mistake, or been charged after you asked us to stop a regular gift, please email us within 30 days and we will refund the mistaken payment in full. We will not claim Gift Aid on a gift we have refunded.
Apart from mistakes like these, gifts are not normally refundable, because by then they may already have been spent on the Trust’s work. If your circumstances have changed, please talk to us anyway: we will always listen, and we will treat you fairly.
Gifts we cannot accept
Very occasionally a charity has to turn down or return a gift, for example if it appears to be fraudulent, if it comes with conditions the Trust cannot meet, or if accepting it would harm the Trust’s work or reputation. If that ever happens, we will return the gift and explain why.
Your information
We use the details you give us to take your gift, send you a receipt, claim Gift Aid if you have asked us to, and keep the charity’s accounts. We never sell or share them for marketing. The full details are in our Privacy and Cookie Policy.
