Philip Clegg has been a Volunteer at Stow Maries since 2013. He sees this an extension to his hobbies of restoring historic vehicles, sailing, tinkering with his old steam boat and playing the piano rather badly. He retired in 2012 after a lifetime as a barrister, recorder and full time circuit judge. In 1996 he was appointed Resident Judge at Basildon Crown Court and was made a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Essex in 2008.
He and his wife, Fiona, are stalwart supporters of Stow Maries where he is helping to renovate a 1915 Fiat truck and Fiona is a mainstay of fundraising events and the Mess.
