SE5 versus Camel – a fighter pilot’s view

The SE5a was the aircraft of choice for many RFC pilots, including four recipients of the Victoria Cross: Major Mick Mannock VC, DSO**, MC* (73 victories); Major James McCudden VC, DSO*, MC*, MM (57 victories); Captain Anthony Beauchamp-Proctor VC, DSO, MC* DFC (54 victories); and Captain Albert Ball VC, DSO**, MC (44 victories).
