37 Squadron – A2767

WAHT is incredibly grateful to the Shuttleworth Collection for providing a temporary home for their two BE2es that arrived at Old Warden last Wednesday (11 Jun)  from TVAL in New Zealand.  The aircraft follow the Sopwith Snipe, RE8 and Albatros from TVAL that are now part of the RAF Museum.  All the aircraft are built with the same incredible  attention to detail for which TVAL aircraft are renowned worldwide.

The BE2es in 7 Squadron (Odiham) and 37 Squadron (Stow Maries) colours will stay at Old Warden until arrangements at Stow Maries are complete  later in the year.  The first aircraft is part of Oliver Wulff’s collection on loan to WAHT and the second one is painted in 37 Squadron colours. WAHT is seeking a donor to acquire the 37 Squadron aircraft for the nation so that it can stay permanently in Essex when Stow Maries is restored to its full World War 1 glory in

The BE2es will be on static and flight line display and taking part in the Shuttleworth Shows when they are not supporting the planned WAHT events – 28th Jun Armed Forces Day (Stow Maries), 12/13th Aug BEF Deployment Commemoration (Dover, Arras),Fly In 6/7th Sep (Stow Maries), Goodwood Revival & Duxford (tbd) (13/14th Sep). During the next 4 years WAHT will bring many other WW1 aircraft to the UK as funding will allow to advance education in the amazing evolution of military aviation and aviators during the Great War. We have some interesting news on sponsorship from Breitling to announce shortly and would appreciate your ideas and support in generating funding.
